Kanon volume 1 arrived at my house today. I’ve watched the first episode to get a glimpse of how the English actors compare to the Japanese ones. If I’m being honest, I actually prefer the English actors. I mean, I do like Sugita Tomokazu, but the female Japanese cast is there to turn the moe up. While I like moe, it can slightly degrade the characters because you’re too busy thinking about how cute the girls are to genuinely care about them. Perhaps I’m oversimplifying it, but I don’t want to get into the moe debate again. It’s old, tired, and it doesn’t need to be brought up any more. Anyway, the English actresses do a very good job of toning down the moe, and actually making the girls sound like girls their age should sound. Christopher Patton is the protagonist, which is nice to see/hear. I half expected Crispin Freeman to take on the role because he’s equally good as Christopher Patton, and he’s like a English speaking Sugita Tomokazu. However, since Christopher Patton took on the role, I had no worries.

I just ordered Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles last night. I’ve completed Resident Evil 4, and that has been one of my favourite Wii games so far. However, I have yet to play any other Resident Evil game, so I will probably buy and play those before I get stuck into this in case of spoilers. If it has none, or very minimal spoilers, please let me know.

After many months, I finally got my butt into gear and bought the remaining two volumes of Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid. They both also arrived today. I haven’t even watched all of the first disc, but I’m taking my time with it. As expected, the English voice actors are spot on and I can’t ask for more. Incidentally, Christopher Patton is also the actor for the protagonist (Sousuke Sagara).

The second Full Metal Panic! novel, One Night Stand, also came today. I haven’t finished the first one yet though.
